We’re back! Thank you so much for sticking with me after my recent hiatus. It has been an eventful eight weeks, so I'd like to start with some exciting updates. After that, I jump right into today’s topic.

Now, it does relate to the stock market, but trust me, you do not want to tune me out on this. The stock market is the greatest generator of individual wealth in the history of the world, and if done right, it will help you grow your own wealth and arrive at financial freedom. The trick is that you can’t let doomsayers scare you away from it. Today, I teach you how to discredit their fear-inducing claims so you don’t fall victim to financial traps.

To start off, I answer a question from the Profit Boss® Facebook group about some unique entrepreneurs might have when buying a mortgage. One of the big takeaways is the difference between personal and business income, and why you might be affecting your chances for a loan if you keep most of your money in your business.

After that, I've got an announcement for you about the future of Profit Boss® Radio and our financial freedom movement as a whole. As this venture grows, I've decided I need a short hiatus to refresh the show and come back better than ever. I'll be back ASAP - and I know you'll be here with me!

This episode answers some very important questions about how to handle sudden money and property wisely. There are so many mixed emotions and feelings when it comes to receiving unexpected (or even expected!), large sums of money. It is all too easy to let bad advice and inexperience cause you to mismanage and waste what you have received.

Data has shown that the vast majority of people who come into sudden money end up squandering it, and even end up in more debt because of it. Knowing how to handle inheritance properly, from investing to saving or selling, is incredibly necessary.

Richard Eisenberg is on this episode to help us bring light to the dark reality of elder financial abuse. Nearly 1 in 20 seniors become victims of financial mistreatment or abuse, often left unnoticed and unresolved. Between con-artists and (sadly) family members who drain the savings of elderly people, around three billion dollars are stolen from seniors each year.

Knowing how to protect the elderly people in your life from financial ruin is extremely important and timely - Elder Abuse Awareness Day just passed on June 15th. Listen in for some valuable tips and ideas to help you help the ones you love and spread awareness to your friends.

Buying real estate can be a whirlwind - and if you've been following along for the past month, you know I've been in the middle of it myself! But it worked out, and my family and I landed our dream house in 28 days. Next week we'll be hearing from a panel of experts about how to buy real estate, but I thought I'd share my story first as a prequel.

In this episode I break down both the story of how we speedily secured our mortgage, and the story of how we ended up moving into the same house my husband lived in when we first met in 2011. It was a rapid and often crazy process, but there are some excellent lessons you can take from our speedy real estate experience.

Denise Duffield-Thomas is a money mindset mentor for the new generation of female entrepreneurs. Denise is committed to changing the way women think about wealth and money. Instead of losing belief or being intimidated, she inspires women to build their own definition of wealth.

One thing you’ll have to come to grips with is that everyone has money blocks. We tell ourselves stories about why we shouldn’t worry about money or pass the responsibility off to someone else. Maybe subpar math skills or preconceived ideas about gender roles are holding you back. Regardless, the time to break through your personal blocks is RIGHT NOW!

Also, I'm hiring a paraplanner! Listen in to the episode to hear about it, and find the link to the job opportunity on the show notes page.

Profit Boss®, I listen to a lot of other financial podcasts. I want to know what's out there, the topics other shows are covering, and the kind of advice other hosts give their audiences.

Today I'm running through the top 10 worst pieces of advice I've heard on other shows. I explain the claims, break them down, and give you some tips for recognizing incorrect or ill-intentioned advice. It's crucial that you learn how to separate misleading ideas from the good stuff, so you can move on and keep building a well-informed and healthy financial life.

I hope this episode gives you some tools for recognizing bad advice, so you can continue to be the money-savvy woman you already are (or are becoming)!

The federal fiduciary rule has been a hot topic in recent months, first because of President Obama's decision to establish it. Now that President Trump has put the rule on hold to be reviewed, we're all talking about fiduciary advisors and regulations once more. I came across an excellent article recently, "What Your Financial Advisor Isn't Telling You," by Dr. Antoinette Schoar, and I knew I had to chat with her.

Antoinette is a professor of Entrepreneurial Finance at MIT, frequent contributor to the Journal of Finance, and part of the nonprofit ideas 42. In this interview, Dr. Schoar and I talk about the conversation with her mother and her mother's advisor that made Antoinette want to better understand the difference between fiduciary- and suitability-focused advisors. We also talk best investment strategies, including the benefits of index funds and how much stock you should own of the company that employs you.

Profit Boss® Radio is celebrating our 1-year anniversary. When you think of anniversaries, you typically think romance. Since this is a financial podcast, I'm going to combine those two concepts and interview my husband, Robert Hendershott. He's a bonafide hedge fund manager. Hedge fund investing is a topic that's stumped me in the past so it will be a nice change of pace to demystify some of the myths and lore associated with this complex world of investing.

Our guest today, economics professor Sharon Poczter, is a renowned economist, researcher of financial exclusion, and self-professed Shark Tank junkie.

Sharon has recently published findings that compare the pitches of investors with their success securing funds from the sharks. Since she's always been interested in how a lack of funds can exclude certain groups from wealth and leadership, she and her team decided to analyze how women entrepreneurs on the show compared with their male counterparts.

In this episode, Sharon and I discuss her findings and the lessons that all women can take from her research. Sharon also shares how she's encouraged the women in her classes to feel more confident speaking up, and her research on financial exclusion in developing countries.

This week I'm speaking with Kelly, whose lax money habits from her early 20s landed her in a stressful 25-year cycle of debt and uncertainty. Now, having sought help to finally improve her understanding of money and establish healthy spending and saving, she's debt-free.

This episode is a great one for anybody wrestling with feelings of failure or inadequacy around money, but it's also educational for you parents out there who are wondering how to ensure that your children don't grow up with a sense of entitlement around finances.

In the interview, Kelly takes us through her early money memories and the reasons she hated focusing on money. She talks about what those 25 years of constant debt were like, and how she finally reached out to a financial coach who helped her reform her treatment of money.
