Welcome to episode 193 of Profit Boss® Radio! In this episode, we’re talking all about the end of year financial routines used by the wealthy.

Just like there are life hacks and morning routines that lead to great success, there are certain annual financial routines successful entrepreneurs use loyally - but keep close to the vest.

After years of working with business owners every day, I’ve curated an annual financial routines checklist that I myself strictly abide by at the turn of every year, and today I’m sharing it with you.

Coordinating your business and personal finances is hard. Implementing time-tested and leveraged routines can make a massive difference!

There are certain things that you absolutely have to have done by December 31. Follow our checklist and not only wrap up 2021 powerfully, get yourself synched to your goals and launch yourself into 2022 with momentum!

For the full financial checklist, please visit: https://hilaryhendershott.com/end-of-year-financial-routines

Welcome to episode 192 of Profit Boss® Radio! Today, we’re talking about 7-figure mindsets–what it means to have a solid perspective on not just launching a business or making money, but all things entrepreneurial.

If you’re an entrepreneur, life can feel like an uphill battle, especially as you struggle to carve out your niche, find your place, and build/scale your first seven-figure business. Some may find themselves feeling unfulfilled, struggling to stay motivated, and even feeling consumed by self-loathing when the going gets tough. But that’s not what every entrepreneur experiences, and it’s not what you should, either.

To help us manage these thoughts and challenges, I’m joined by Ron Reich. Ron helps emerging experts build seven-figure businesses, and he’s also my launch coach. He’s a wealth of information, and he’s worked with some incredible names, including Hay House Publishing, Todd Herman, Selena Soo, Denise Duffield-Thomas, and Ryan Levesque–to name just a few.

If you’re ready to stop struggling and finally understand how real entrepreneurs achieve breakthroughs and hit their goals, then this conversation is for you!

Here’s what you’ll find out in this week’s episode of Profit Boss® Radio:

  • Believe in yourself because if you don’t, nobody else will.
  • How the mindset of an A Player is that they do what is necessary, they understand necessity and they never deviate from that.
  • When a 7-figure entrepreneur decides they’re going to create something, they are focused and they remain focused until they achieve the goal.
  • Asking for help or reaching out to those who are in a position to help you is not a weakness.
  • The value of giving that extra 3% and going the extra mile, even with something as simple as making phone calls yourself to promote an event.
  • The power of the “Antifragile” mindset and understanding that what doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger.
  • How an A Player is ruthless, relentless and focused on controlling the things that are within their control.
  • The difference between leading indicators vs lagging indicators.
  • The value in setting aggressive, yet achievable goals. Take action, and stay on the path.
  • Why the most successful high achievers are fantastic at implementing.
  • Don’t procrastinate and wait until you’re in alignment. The sooner you make that phone call, the sooner you’ll get the results you’re looking for.
  • Energy is power so stay focused on maximizing your energy, which will make you a far more productive person.
  • Most people typically have 4-5 productive hours each day so getting the proper amount of sleep, eating healthy with daily exercise will help you get the most out of those hours.
  • Never be afraid to get outside of your comfort zone. Challenge yourself because this is how you grow!

Welcome to episode 191 of Profit Boss® Radio! In this episode, we’re talking about how to teach your kids about the value of money and entrepreneurship.

Schools rarely teach financial responsibility, encourage entrepreneurship, or equip kids with the skills they need to understand our money systems. It’s why so many of us learned these lessons the hard way–and it’s why it’s so important to make sure our own children get a better financial education than we did.

With that in mind, I’m thrilled to be talking to Rob Phelan. Rob’s a high school math and personal finance teacher by day, but by night, he’s the author of M is for Money, a book of financial lessons for kids, as well as the founder of Simple Startup, where he provides online coaching for 10-18 year old entrepreneurs.

In today’s episode, we’re talking about how to teach your kids about money and finance in ways that they’ll care about. We’ll also hear about some incredible companies founded by amazing kids, and help find ways to make sure that children have a better understanding about the value of money that you wish you had when you were young.

Here’s what you’ll find out in this week’s episode of Profit Boss® Radio:

  • The hard financial lessons that helped Rob learn about money in his 20s.
  • Why kids don’t need good math skills anymore to have great money skills.
  • The value of teaching kids financial independence over financial literacy.
  • The importance of leaving a legacy for our children, and the value in teaching our children at an early age.
  • The wonderful success story from a young girl who took Rob’s course and is still demonstrating a tremendous amount of entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Why you don’t need to be all knowing–and how to encourage your kids to develop their own healthy relationship with money.

Welcome to episode 190 of Profit Boss® Radio! Today, I’m digging into the Profit Boss® Radio archives and sharing one of my favorite interviews with the iconic Ali Brown—a true pioneer in the online business world.

If you’re not familiar with Ali’s story, she left her full-time career with less than $20 in her bank account and created a successful 7-figure enterprise. Now, she is one of the most recognized entrepreneur coaches in the world.

Ali has built a coaching and consulting enterprise that ranked in the Inc. 500 list of the fastest growing companies in the U.S. She’s the Founder and CEO of the women’s business empowerment company, We Lead. She’s also the Founder and CEO of The Trust, a premier global network of entrepreneurs generating 7 and 8-figure revenue. Ali is the host of the massively successful Glambition® Radio show and has been named Forbes’ Women to Watch and was featured on the ABC primetime hit, Secret Millionaire.

In this interview, Ali shares her wisdom and a ton of great advice to help entrepreneurial women with the most common money problems and challenges they will face, the money mindsets that lead to meaningful net-worth growth, and her realizations about self-worth and how that translates to how she pays herself. Enjoy!

Here’s what you’ll find out in this week’s episode of Profit Boss® Radio:

  • Ali shares her secrets that led to her 7-figure income spike and how she made sure to keep the numbers high.

Welcome to episode 189 of Profit Boss® Radio! In this episode, we’re talking about saving for college and career training–and how to use 529 plans to make this daunting task more manageable.

There are a lot of reasons you might want to use a 529 plan. These plans allow Americans to save for higher education on a tax-advantaged basis. This means that as they grow in value, that growth isn’t taxed. So long as the money is withdrawn to pay for higher education in some form, you don’t owe tax on the value of the account either. This means more money for college, technical school, or a paid apprenticeship, as well as an added benefit that many people can take off their state tax obligations in a number of places.

Joining us to talk about 529 plans are Patricia Roberts and Hendershott Wealth Management’s very own, Jen Rupp. In the first half of this episode, you’ll meet Patricia, who’s the author of Route 529: A Parent’s Guide to Saving for College and Career Training with 529 Plans. You’ll then hear from Jen Rupp, who’s the head cash flow coach in my coaching program, as well as an expert on 529 plans herself.

If you’re ready to learn about some great ways to take the pain out of saving for college, this episode is jam-packed with information that will help you prepare to take the first steps.

Here’s what you’ll find out in this week’s episode of Profit Boss® Radio:

  • Why you can create a 529 plan in any state–and which states offer the greatest benefits for residents.
  • How you can legally use funds in 529 accounts for expenses far beyond tuition, including apartment rent, certificates, and even computer equipment.
  • Why you should still consider opening a 529 for your kids, even if you have no idea if they’re going to go to college (or they hit the jackpot and receive a full ride scholarship).
How your employer can help you prepare for the costs of higher education.
  • What it means to superfund a 529–and how to legally put as much as $150,000 in a single year into these accounts.
  • The rules of the road for investing when it comes to 529s.

Welcome to episode 188 of Profit Boss® Radio! In this episode, we’re talking about how to manifest anything you want! If you’re listening to this, you have the power to live a bold, successful life–and one with real work/life balance, too! However, to make it happen, you don’t just need pure will. You also need systems and boundaries to live mindfully and manage your time.

Few people understand this better than today’s guest, Heather Vickery. Heather has been an entrepreneur for 20 years, a single mom of four girls who left a decade-long marriage to come out both personally and professionally, and the author of F*CK FEARLESS, The Gratitude Journal: Shift Your Focus, and Grow Grateful: A Gratitude Journal for Kids and Families. She’s also the host and executive producer of The Brave Files, one of my favorite podcasts.

So, Profit Boss®, are you ready to learn how to manifest anything you want and keep it on your terms? If so, this episode is for you!

PS: If Heather’s coaching sounds like a good fit for you, you can get started right now by going to VickeryandCo.com/Guide to get your free copy of the Brave Method Quick Guide–a free five-page reflective guide to help you design the life and business you deserve.

Here’s what you’ll find out in this week’s episode of Profit Boss® Radio:

  • What manifesting is and how it really works.
  • How Heather opens doors that most people simply don’t know how to.
  • How to get comfortable asking to be fairly compensated for your work.
  • How Heather thinks about money in her personal life–and why she’s at peace with the fact that the money she needs will ultimately appear.
  • What happened when Heather divorced from her husband of ten years to rebuild life on her terms–and how manifestation plays a major role in her life now.

Welcome to episode 187 of Profit Boss® Radio! In this episode, we’re talking about cryptocurrency–but also something even bigger than that. There are some people who have made millions in crypto, but there are plenty who have lost everything, and many more who are still on the fence.

You might already know that I’ve gone on the record saying that it’s okay to say yes or no to crypto. It’s not about whether crypto assets are good or bad, but whether you–as an investor–understand their characteristics and how crypto can work in your financial life.

That’s why I wanted to break it down and share my thoughts on the pros and cons of crypto. With so many investment opinions and strategies available today, I think it’s even more important to make sure that you’re making informed financial decisions that are right for you.

So, if you’ve been hearing a lot about crypto and Bitcoin lately and thinking about taking the plunge, I want to help you develop a better understanding of how the choices you make can help (or hurt) your chances of achieving your financial goals. And if I can provide value by saving countless hours of your time, and large amounts of your hard-earned money, then that’s a win-win in my book and I’ll take those wins every time.

Here’s what you’ll find out in this week’s episode of Profit Boss® Radio:

  • The benefits of having strict systems in any part of your life–including an investment philosophy.
  • How FOMO informs the behavior of so many investors.
  • The two basic investment philosophies of active and passive investing–and why one almost always outperforms the other over a long period of time.
  • Why passive investors, in general, do not need to consider crypto assets.
  • What makes crypto so much more like a game of chance than investing in an index fund.

Welcome to episode 186 of Profit Boss® Radio! Today, we’re talking about how to break the chains of generational scarcity and become unapologetic leaders who don’t just demand what they’re worth–they get it!

If you’re looking to make a business breakthrough, there’s more to it than simply being great at what you do. You’ve got to position yourself as the value and set yourself up for success as not just a leader, but an iconic leader–and this is why I’m so excited to talk to my guest, Merel Kriegsman.

Merel is the CEO and founder of Merel Kriegsman Media. She’s a high-ticket sales coach whose insights have been featured on CBS News, ABC News, and in publications like Forbes and Fast Company. She’s also a mother of three.

If you’re ready to learn how to stop saying sorry and embark on a journey to authentically grow your business on your terms, today’s episode is for you!

Here’s what you’ll find out in this week’s episode of Profit Boss® Radio:

  • How Merel’s struggle for success as a musician changed her perception of money.
  • What Merel did to go from making nothing to over six figures a month within a matter of weeks.
  • Merel’s non-negotiable practices that helped her create offers for high-ticket clients–and how she scaled and replicated her success.
  • How Merel and her husband are now able to pay themselves approximately $30,000 a month from their business while still having plenty of runway to reinvest as needed.
  • How to focus in and double down on the unrepeatable, uncopyable things that make you uniquely yourself–and absolutely of value.

Welcome to episode 185 of Profit Boss® Radio! In this episode, I’m sharing one of my favorite interviews with an incredibly smart and successful woman, and such a beautiful soul, the iconic Nicole Walters.

Nicole’s story is amazing and her views and philosophies on money mindsets resonated with me from the very beginning. At one time, she was a top-selling executive for Fortune 500 companies and managing multi-billion dollar business relationships, but the corporate grind left her feeling unfulfilled. So she went out on her own to share what she learned in the corporate world and now teaches others how to monetize their lives with her Monetize Thy Self mindset.

Her energy and attitude is contagious, and the knowledge and experience that she brings to the show is top notch. She is living proof that you can do what you love without sacrificing financial freedom.

In today’s episode, you’ll learn how to move past your limiting beliefs, improve your relationship with wealth, change your mindset to achieve your personal and financial goals, and why everyone’s time is worth getting paid for.

Here’s what you’ll find out in this week’s episode of Profit Boss® Radio:

  • How Nicole’s life changed course when she became a foster mother.
  • How Nicole was able to move past her money fears and limiting beliefs from her past.
  • Why you need a better understanding of margins in your business.
  • What Nicole focuses on in her business that leads to generating wealth.
  • How to build true profitability in your business.
  • How Nicole realized that you can do what you are passionate about in life without sacrificing your financial freedom.

Welcome to episode 184 of Profit Boss® Radio! If there’s one thing that hasn’t changed over the years, it’s how so many couples struggle with their finances, which is why I’m sharing this gem from the Profit Boss® Radio archives with you today.

If you’re not familiar with the Couples and Money mini-series that I hosted way back when, it covers all the highlights in one convenient place. I’ll take you through my best financial planning advice about how couples can get on the right path.

This episode has three vital parts: high-level strategic advice, my 13 Steps for Financial Planning for Couples, and finally, the money mistakes you need to avoid. If you’re ready to achieve financial harmony with your significant other, just hit play and let’s get started.

Here’s what you’ll find out in this week’s episode of Profit Boss® Radio:

Women in the U.S. earn $0.82 and own just $0.32 for every $1 earned and owned by a man, and the disparities are even wider for women of color.” - Stefanie O’Connell

Welcome to episode 183 of Profit Boss® Radio! In this episode, we’re talking about the link between gender equity and financial power. As women, our achievements are very different from our grandmothers’—or even our mothers’. However, we’re far more likely to celebrate the women in our lives for getting engaged or having babies than when they do something incredible in their professional life.

Where did this disconnect come from, and why is it so pervasive in our society? To help me answer this question, I’m speaking with Stefanie O’Connell. Stefanie’s a friend, writer, and financial expert on four big topics: women, money, power, and ambition. She hosts Real Simple Magazine’s Money Confidential Podcast and is the founder of Statement Cards, where she produces greeting cards celebrating milestones that aren’t just marriage and motherhood.

In today’s conversation, we talk about why women are hesitant to negotiate (HINT: it’s not for a lack of confidence), what Stefanie calls the “ambition penalty”, and what needs to be done to close the gender wealth gap.

Here’s what you’ll find out in this week’s episode of Profit Boss® Radio:

  • Why we’re all socialized to ask the same questions and celebrate the same milestones—and how this often leaves women uncredited for the books we write, the businesses we launch, and our other achievements.
  • Why there’s nothing wrong with celebrating marriages and children—but celebrating only marriages and children limits and reduces us as people.
  • What the ambition penalty is and how it reaffirms traditional patriarchal workplace structures—even for business owners and entrepreneurs.
  • Why ambition isn’t always perceived as an asset, especially with women.
  • How the fear of rejection is not the goal, but is a natural part of the process of being ambitious.
  • How a community can offer us constructive criticism, honest feedback, and help us conquer our fear of rejection.

In this episode, we’re learning all about how to talk about money. This is a subject that makes most people feel very vulnerable–naked, even–and it can stop us from finding happiness and satisfaction with ourselves, our lives, and what we do each day.

Here to discuss this with me is Sarah Kathleen Peck. She’s the founder and CEO of Startup Parent, as well as a good friend of mine. She’s had her work featured in publications including Forbes, Inc., and Fast Company, worked with countless women entrepreneurs, and recorded over 200 interviews on her own podcast.

So, Profit Boss, are you ready to get real about what money is and isn’t–and how to make it work for you instead of worrying about how much you have or need? If so, this very special episode is for you!

Here’s what you’ll find out in this week’s episode of Profit Boss® Radio:

  • Why money is a tool that becomes completely worthless if you don’t know what you want from it.
  • Why so many extremely wealthy people are so miserable.
  • Why there’s some power to manifesting–but why you shouldn’t just sit in front of your mirror saying “I’m rich!” when you’re not.
  • How getting clear about your intentions can help you clarify your questions about money and unpack your trauma.
  • The common stumbling blocks that get in the way between women and financial goals.
  • How Sarah and her husband manage money together without micromanaging each other.

In this episode, we’re talking about grief, post-traumatic growth, and how to create a future you can get excited about in the face of loss.

Joining me for this conversation is Krista St-Germain. She’s a Master Certified Life Coach, grief expert, mother, and a widow, as well as the host of the Widowed Mom Podcast. After her husband was killed by a drunk driver, she discovered life coaching, and now coaches and teaches other widows how to love life again, too.

In today’s episode, Krista shares the story of how she found the tools she needed to move forward, how to heal from our toughest traumas and biggest losses, and the important conversations (including a few about money) she’d wished she’d had before it was too late.

Here’s what you’ll find out in this week’s episode of Profit Boss® Radio:

  • What to say (and what not to) to people as they navigate their grief.
  • How to share life-altering news with your loved ones.
  • Why Krista doesn’t believe in healing timelines.
  • Why so many people procrastinate when it comes to tough conversations they need to have–and how this hurt Krista in the wake of her husband’s death.
  • What Krista’s coaching for widows consists of.
  • The financial factors and challenges underneath traumatic loss–and why no sum of money can buy safety.

In this episode, we’re talking about how to make more money in less time. If you’re anything like me, you’re desperately seeking more free time and more whitespace in your business, so the idea of giving less of your energy and getting more in return is extremely appealing.

But in practice, what does this mean? How exactly can you build a business that grows and thrives without requiring the additional time, stress and burnout that comes with it?

Joining me to answer this question is Kelsey Kerslake. Kelsey’s a mother, CEO, creative director, and business coach, as well as the host of the Aligned Business Podcast. She’s helped hundreds of online business owners build their brand and online influence, and turned her side hustle into a thriving design agency and education business.

In today’s conversation, Kelsey shares her journey and mishaps along the way. Not only will you learn how to delegate effectively, but you’ll get her foolproof strategy to diligently work a solid 5 hours and still make profits!

Here’s what you’ll find out in this week’s episode of Profit Boss® Radio:

  • The powerful tools you can use to ensure your business can deliver results without you being involved in every step of your operations.
  • The surprising things you can procedurize yourself out of–and how to do this WITHOUT losing control of your company!
  • What Kelsey’s day looks like now that she can focus on the tasks she loves–and how she designs her calendar.
  • How to talk to employees about time off and mental health–and creating a work environment that inspires everyone.
  • What Kelsey did to completely eliminate email from her life.

Welcome to episode 176 of Profit Boss® Radio! In this episode, we’re on a mission to end entrepreneurial poverty for women. We’re talking about what it means for female entrepreneurs to design predictably profitable businesses—without the hassle and burnout—so that you can do less and earn more!

So many women struggle to turn a profit as they build businesses. In fact, even though women own 44% of small businesses, they only make up 4% of the small business revenue in the United States!?

How did this happen? Well, one big part of this is the fact that the MBA programs that so many women go through only train people to run large corporations. Unfortunately, they don’t equip you with the unique skills you need to build a thriving small business.

That’s why I’m so excited to have Racheal Cook with me today. Racheal is an award-winning business strategist, best-selling author, and host of the Promote Yourself to CEO podcast.

In today’s conversation, we talk about the fourth and fifth steps from my 7 Steps to Wealth Framework: ask and earn. You’ll learn how to make money (and earn it) in your own business, as well as in your personal financial life. Racheal and I go in-depth on what it means to design a business on your terms and get out of entrepreneurial poverty as a woman–once and for all!

Here’s what you’ll find out in this week’s episode of Profit Boss® Radio:

  • How Racheal burned out on corporate consulting and found herself working uniquely with small businesses.
  • Why so many small business owners work so hard for so little—and why it takes so long for them to realize this.
  • The key to making your business run with ease—and the major mistakes so many women make that hurt their businesses (and themselves).
  • Three things women need to be doing to run more resilient businesses.
  • What you can do to get peace of mind if you’re suffering from burnout.
  • How a bad CPA cost Racheal $15,000 in taxes that she didn’t need to pay.

Welcome to episode 175 of Profit Boss® Radio! In this episode, we’re talking about how to literally rewire your money mind!

Rewiring and engaging neuroplasticity is key to transforming your financial outcomes and altering your limiting beliefs—and no, this has nothing to do with affirmations!

To discuss this topic, I’m excited to welcome Barbara Huson back to the podcast. Barbara is the author of Rewire for Wealth: Three Steps Every Woman Can Take to Program Her Brain for Financial Success. She’s dedicated her entire career to being a money mentor for women, and in many ways, this new book is the synthesis of all the work she has done.

Barbara knows first hand the impact that negative money experiences can have on our brains. In our conversation, you’ll hear the story of the ex-husband who gambled all her money away, and the feeling of shame and fear that pushed her into a state of depression—and how she turned things around!

Barbara also shares some real world stories of her clients who have completely transformed their money minds, and the neuroplasticity techniques they used to do it. We also dig into the beliefs and ideas behind this quote: “The only people who don’t have insane relationships with money are those who are willing to examine their insane relationship with money.

If you’re ready to rewire your brain and change the way you think about money, don’t miss this episode of Profit Boss® Radio!

Here’s what you’ll find out in this week’s episode of Profit Boss® Radio:

  • How we all become wired for wealth at some stage in our lives–and why we have to change this wiring to effectively change our behavior.
  • How shame can impact women financially–and why it shouldn’t hold you back.
  • What exactly neuroplasticity is–and three steps you can take to change your brain.
  • Why traditional financial education is obsessed with behavior and nothing else–and how this causes so many women to have problems with money.

Welcome to episode 174 of Profit Boss® Radio! It’s true, I haven’t published a podcast episode in over half a year—and today you’re going to find out why! You’ll hear all about how I ended up in a complete state of burnout, and the mindset shift I had to make to turn things around.

I had something brewing in my business that turned out to be a BIG mistake. I let a limiting belief around money stop me from hiring new staff when I needed it the most—preventing me from effectively scaling my business.

Yes, of course, even though I don’t tend to make them very often anymore, you can count on me to be honest about my own financial mistakes. And if you have your blinders on (like I did) you may have limiting beliefs around money that are getting in your way too!

With these hard lessons in mind, today’s episode of Profit Boss® Radio takes a look at the 7 Steps to Wealth Framework. I want you to see which of these critical steps are working for you in your life and business right now AND which you need to put in place before financial mistakes—or even tragedies—occur. Then, I review the Forbes Billionaires list, and show how your reaction to it can give you insight into your own (potentially) broken mindsets.

Here’s what you’ll find out in this week’s episode of Profit Boss® Radio:

  • Why it’s so easy to forget what you know–and how being attached to profit ended up hurting me.
  • Why growing a profitable business is always about personal growth (what got you here won’t get you there!)
  • The 7 Steps to Wealth–and how to use this blueprint to build (and protect) a fortune.
  • What it means if you have a negative (or positive) emotional response to seeing stories about the Forbes Billionaires list.
